Being very curious how a F1 race would sound like in the first Night Race in the world, down at the very city where I work and hang around almost everyday....I decided to take the plunge to explore further... even though I am no F1 fan, nor do I know anything much about F1, save for Lewis Hamilton, Massa, McLauren, Ferrari....
I went to Suntec City to buy something in the afternoon, and was so surprise the car park was so empty.... probably due to many road closure so most Singaporean would avoid this part of the town. (then I realised that majority of the nation are probably not great F1 fans anyway....)
In the evening we went downtown to Suntec City and soaked in the F1 atmosphere at Suntec City, and also went up to Sarah's office at 40th floor at Tower 2, to have a great view of the city. But by the time we reached there and kind of finished 'wahing' around, the practice session has ended... at around 8.10pm.
The Qualifying rounds began at 10pm so we walked to Marine Centre to try to get a better view, since the bridge adjoining Suntec and Marina was JAM packed with people. But the view at Marine/Oriental Hotel was quite blocked by barricades... so we can only enjoy the screeching sound.
Finally, Daddy drove us around Shears Bridge to take in the beautifully litted up Singapore Flyer and the night scene of Singapore. At some point near the entrance of the bridge we were pretty close to the circuit....and the sound was really terrifying, exhilarating and exciting!!!
So finally my curiousity is satisfied, Jevon concluded that "I think I prefer watching F1 on TV".
But I hope it was a memorable experience for the children, as it is kind of once in a lifetime!
